This came in the other day from an Australian working for a multinational corporation based in Japan:
While we may not be making progress at the desired speed in Australia, it is surely preferable to the glacial speed with which the Japanese are embracing any concept that remotely resembles gender diversity (or racial diversity).
You have probably heard of the recent comments made by a senior politician regarding the need for women to return to their predefined roles and “birth machines”!
Sadly he is responsible for Women’s Affairs. He represents the majority view in the diet.
And more sadly women are never consulted in the matters of women’s affairs. The blokes decide what matters in women’s affairs.
It is no wonder that young women are voting by making their choice not to marry and bear children. It is their only weapon.
Are there any other perceptions from Australians living and working overseas?
