A contretemps has emerged in the US over Hillary Clinton allegedly showing a bit of cleavage on the Senate floor (well, not on the floor, exactly, more where her breasts are – but you know what I mean!).
The issue was kicked off by Robin Givhan, a fashion writer from the Washington Post who spotted some senatorial bust and proclaimed: “To display cleavage in a setting that does not involve cocktails and hors d’oeuvres is a provocation”.
Well, that got the readers going. The newspaper has had to have its ombundsman arbitrate as enraged women flooded the paper with protests.
Read the article “Hillary Clinton’s Tentative Dip into new neckline territory“.
One of the best comments has come from Judith Warner of the New York Times who has written a blog “The Cleavage Conundrum” which has attracted dozens of comments also – many of them from women disagreeing that we show any curves of flesh, especially in a business or political setting.
What do you think?

Couldn’t read the link without registering for something called TimesSelect. Can you add some choice quotes please?
