the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) has named August 27 Equal Pay Day and is calling on employers to conduct a pay audit in their workplace. Because women earn on average only 84 cents for every dollar earned by men, women have to work harder to earn the same money. August 27 is the date on which women catch up with what men earned at June 30. Although women were granted equal pay in 1972, it has still not been achieved in reality.
