		<description>This is a long overdue policy and it will be of benefit to both business and the community as well as individual women.

It was introduced in NZ about 4 years ago to the same portents of doom and catcalling.  It was implemented without any downside.  The upside is that employers of scale were pushed to finally come into the 21st century and introduce more comprehensive paid maternity/parental leave schemes.

Most employers who have already introduced paid maternity/parental leave have had significant retention benefits that more than offset the cost.</description>
