Congratulations on your articulations regarding gender Equity in Australia. (and beyond of course) I saw you speak at the Melbourne based National Assembly of Gender Equity and inclusion in April this year and enjoyed your perspective. I find it interesting that the dialogue continues to be about the glass ceiling or even the glass cliff (at melbourne business school) but few talk about the gender inequity of the domestic workplace. Non paid domestic labour inequities rarely get mentioned or are “too hard” as the caring/nurturing spheres (and professions) are deemed economically uninteresting or is it unmeasureable(?) and are written off out of the general ledgers. For example and in my case in hospitals; take the courageous nurses stand against ratio changes for nurse to patient ratios and consider the financial penalty’s for longer consultations for Dr’s which female patients require of female Dr’s (for instance).
Somehow we are no longer able to afford to “care” as accountants run health and education and see a service industry as a business with always measurable targets.
Patients and patient care is an inconvenient truth for those who see health care as a process line. As women are tending to feminise the caring professions including medicine this lack of appreciation of care and domestic inequities equally become gender issues.
Thank you for fighting the good fight Anne.
    Kind Regards
